Lush 9 to 5 Cleanser

Lush 9 to 5 Cleanser

2016 seems to be the saga of the makeup removal for me. I have tried a great number of really good ways to remove your makeup this year, from cloths that just need water, cream cleansers, different Micellar waters and wipes. Each has there only awesome way of removing my makeup, but some have fallen down in other areas despite being amazing. None have truly swayed me to repurchase either because they still needed a lot of product or rubbing to get it to work or stripped my skin too much or couldn’t be used more than three or four times a week. On I went to find something bigger and better to help me remove my makeup.

Then along came Lush…

Weleda Almond Sensitive Body Care- Lotion, Hand Cream and Body Wash

Weleda Almond Sensitive Body Care- Lotion, Hand Cream and Body Wash

Hello lovely people!

How’s it going? Life has been getting in the way of blogging again, much to my annoyance. I moved house and now live three minutes walk from the beach in a house with an amazing sun room, which is perfect for photos.

So my first post back from my hiatus is one I can not believe took me so long to write because I enjoyed using the products so much. Weleda were lovely enough to see me the three new products in their Almond Sensitive Range back in October and I have been using them ever since. The three new products were a body lotion, hand cream and a body wash.

Weleda Alond Range

“Weleda’s NEW Almond Sensitive Body Care range satisfies the needs of sensitive skin holistically. It gently calms and encompasses sensitive skin like a protective shell and balances the mind and soul with the delicate scent of almond essential oil. Reduced to a few, carefully selected ingredients, it calms and gently cares for the skin, and restores the skin’s natural balance.” Read more

Trilogy Rosapene Beauty Collection

Trilogy Rosapene Beauty Collection

Trilogy has put out some awesome Holiday gift boxes. I was sent the Rosapene Beauty Collection to try. This box contains A full size 30ml Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+, 20ml mini Vital Moisturising Cream and 25ml mini Rosapene™ Night Cream .

The other gift boxes are: Age-Proof Beauty Collection RRP $57.90, Everyday Must-Haves RRP $26.90 and Handbag Heroes RRP $22.90. Trilogy collection

The box it came in is super cute and the “minis” are bigger than expected and have quite a bit of product in them.

Vital Moisturising Cream
“Daily nourishment and hydration with Rosapene™, marula, orange flower.”img_7536edited_zpswsljpett

Full Size: $49.90 NZD 60ml

This is a great day cream, it is on the thicker side for a day cream, but still blends in quickly and sits under makeup well. It did not irritate my skin or make it oily, but instead made my skin look refreshed and well hydrated.

Rosapene Night Cream
“Revive, restore and rehydrate with RosapeneTM, goji and manuka honey.”

Full Size: $54.90 NZD 60ml

This is such a thick gorgeous cream, at night I love massaging in a thick night cream, it always feels super luxurious. Its often when I have removed all my makeup and given it a bit of a scrub with a cleanser, so have such a thick, nourishing cream to soak in and work its magic overnight is great. This always made my skin look well rested the next day, less dry and smooth.

Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+:
“A powerful beauty oil with our unique formulation Rosapene™ for healthier, younger looking skin.”img_7540edited_zpswczowjji

Full Size: $35.90 NZD

Oh man this was far better than I expected. It felt so good in my face! It has such a great texture to it and massaged in really well. I am so glad the bottle is full size. Its often would exfoliate my face before bed and apply nothing but this and the next morning my skin would look so good!

The box was a really good deal and a great way to try the products without forking out too much for them. I have to admit the full size prices did make me stutter a little bit. They are fantastic products and I would love to have them, but I think I would have to wait till I had vouchers or a good store discount to permanently add them to my skin care routine. If you live in New Zealand keep an eye on deals at Farmers, they often have 3 for 2. They are worth it and a lot goes a long way, so see it as an investment in gorgeous skin 😉

Have you tried anything from Trilogy? What do you think of the gift boxes?

September Round Up

September Round Up

September is over and October is already upon us. I am already receiving emails about Christmas packs and themed products and it is a little sad. where has the year gone to? Oh well at least this means my semester will be over and done with soon XD

This month’s round up is here and very long, I am quite pleased with the track record of these products, they were all wins for me. Lets have a look.

September Round UpeditedOasis Beauty “Straight Up” (Blemish Control Serum)
– Sent for Review
– $39.90 NZD
– Full list of retailers available here and International Shipping available through website.

“Straight Up is mixed to help control oil production and breakouts”

In lasts month’s round up I talked about fighting oil with oil and how strangely it works and here is another product to help with that. I tried using it in the morning, but I still found that I had to wait a little bit before putting my makeup on and sometimes I just don’t have time for that. So I moved to using it at night and the worked perfectly.

My skin looked good after a few weeks of using it regularly and I found that I was less inclined to get blemishes and if I did they did not last long. I would be really interested in giving this a go using the massage oil in and scrub off method to see how it works.

Would I replace this? Yes! I really like that it is created with sensitive skin in mind, but also fights oily skin and fights blemishes. It is not one of the cheaper oils, but the pump means you don’t get too much coming out which means there is not waste, it lasts for ages and you don’t over saturate your skin. I enjoyed the feel of it on my skin and the results it gave me.

“Weleda Skin Food’s unique formulation combines 100 percent natural (NATRUE certified) skin-rewarding ingredients that have been designed specifically to instantly soothe, restore and protect all skin types with deep nourishment and intensive hydration.”

When this little tube turned up on my desk my first thought was “but what does it do?” and then the lovely people who sent it to me gave me a list of some of the things it did; helps heal slow healing wounds, protect hands from winter, restore dry/sore hands, use as a primer, nail care, skin care. I used it on my hands and feet and it felt really good going on,  I felt my poor dry hands and feet being soothed right away. I usually use this just before I go to bed so I don’t wash or wear it off and I felt as thought my hands and feet looked and felt better the next day. Regular use meant all those dry scaly bits disappeared and my skin looked good, now to just remember to do it regular, I am so bad at remembering.

The cream was really thick so I don’t think you could use it as an all over lotion, but I think it is meant for more spot treatment.

Would I replace this? Yes! It fits well into my hand bag and works so well. I would love one for work and one for home and with the two different sizes there is always the perfect size. I had good results and enjoyed using it!

Manuka Doctor ApiNourish Firm Skin Facial Moisturiser
– Sent fr Review
– $49.95 NZD
– Available at Life Pharmacy (NZ) and Manuka Doctor website (international)

I have been using this for so long that I almost forgot what my skin was like before this. I feel like my skin looks and feels great and has had such huge improvements while using this moisturiser. I use this mainly in the mornings and every other night when I am not using one of my oils, this works really well as it sits underneath my makeup perfectly. It soaks in very quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft and ready for the day. Despite what I have had to eat or the amount of sleep I have had for the last week, my skin doesn’t seem to take as much of a knock while I am using this. I’m currently sitting here feeling my face and I feel as though it feels good! I even think the few lines I have started to get (-_-) are looking better!

Would I replace this? YES! I am going to swim in this!!

MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara
– Sample
– $22.00 USD
– Available from MAC website (US) or MAC in store (International)

Dammit MAC! I made a purchase a month a go and was able to choose a free sample and this was it. Now I need it, I need it so much. It looks great on my lashes, it makes them so dark and full without clumping. It also applies really easy and the brush is just perfect T_T Why did I do this to myself?

Tresemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo
– $14.50 NZD
– Available from Countdown (NZ), Life Pharmacy (NZ), Pak N Save (NZ), The Warehouse (NZ) Chemist Warehouse (International)

I have used an older version of Tresemme’s dry shampoo for ages and have always sworn about it, suddenly it became hard to find and now I know why. An even better one came out. For quite a few years now I have been part of that crazy group that tries to wash their hair only two to three times a week. It took a long time before my hair looked any good, but I am never going back. Dry Shampoo was really my savior when I first started out.

I don’t have to use dry shampoo as much any more, but sometimes you just need a bit to help your hair in the morning. Tresemme’s dry shampoo works really well for me, it makes my hair look less greasy and helps give it some volume back. I can get quite oily and lank hair if I am careful so this is best for me. I would not personally use this more than once before washing my hair. I usually use this on day three when I am pushing it out between washes. It does whiten your hair a little bit, even when you brush it out. This doesn’t look too bad if you have lighter hair.

Its really inexpensive and a good product, that is easy to find, I would buy it again.

Maybelline Touch of Light Luminizing Face Glow
– Discontinued
– $8.00 NZD
– No longer available in stores, but you can find it on ebay and makeup clearance stores like

T_T I didn’t know this was discontinued till I fell in love with it. So if you can get your hands on it get a tube or two! Its a really nice subtle, liquid, golden highlighter. It blends in very well and looks best over liquid foundation. I would love to get more, but I think I will just have to live with the two tubes I have XD I can’t be the only one who has fallen in love with something discontinued right?

Trilogy Make-up Be Gone Cleansing Balm

Trilogy Make-up Be Gone Cleansing Balm

Today I have for you an interesting new product; Trilogy’s Make-up Be Gone Cleansing Balm. Wondering what that is? It’s a solid make-up remover, yup solid! Wanna know how it works? Keep reading 😉

Trilogy Makeup Be Gone

Saaaaay what? Its solid?! Yup and chock full of all sorts of goodness that it can even go near your eyes. Don’t worry it warms up very quickly and spreads across your skin evenly and massages into your skin gently lifting up your day’s worth of make-up.

How do you use it?:
I scooped out about a New Zealand $0.10c coin worth of product and rubbed in between the tips of my fingers to start warming it up. Next I started massaging it in, starting at my nose and working outwards across my cheeks. I did all around my face first, ignoring my eyes and lip area. I usually have on a lot of eye make-up so I wanted to make sure I paid a bit more attention to this area and with enough product. Mr Gabby claimed I looked Furiosa after this XD

I found after working the balm into my eye area my finger tips were also quite black from my liquid eye liner, so I cleaned them off and then rubbed more product into my lips. This makes it sound as though I am using a heap of product, but I am not really just enough to coat the tips of my fingers. I worked out pretty quickly to do my eyes and lips last or else I just smeared eye liner and lipstick everywhere XD

Now you need to wash it off with a warm, damp cloth. Don’t be too startled when all of your make-up transfers over to your face cloth, I found I could just rinse it all out with a bit of soap. Better the cloth than your skin :3

So did it remove all the make-up?:
There was so much confidence in how good this was going to be that I was even sent white towels along with my bundle to dry my face on. Trilogy claims it removes every last bit of make-up so that your white towels stay pristine! So? The first time I tried this I forgot about the bit of foundation I blend down my neck, so I got foundation on my new white towels T_T, but no eye liner! After that I remembered my neck and my towels stayed white. It works really well, you just have to remember where you put your make-up that morning. If you have heavy eye-liner on I would recommend possibly having a second go with the balm just to make sure you get everything.

What did it do to my skin?:
It was so very gently, especially around the eye area. No burning, it didn’t make my eyes run, my skin didn’t feel over cleansed afterwards. If anything it felt very moisturised.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I liked how well it took my make-up off and the end of the day without hurting my skin. It can be a little time consuming, but it makes sure you wash your face. I still use my Micellar Water if I am removing my make-up late at night and want it done quickly.

Have you tried any solid make-up removers before?

Thanks for stopping by!

P.s. No white towels were permanently harmed in this writing of this post.

Plantae Bergamot Orange Cleansing Milk

Good morning,

How has your February been so far? Mine has been busy with birthdays, work, dinners and plans to move. There is of course plenty of products being tried, so I should have quite a few reviews to share with you 😉

Today I have Plantae’s Bergamot Orange cleansing Milk to share with you. I have had this for a while, but as I do not wash my face with a cleanser everyday I thought I would make sure I have enough time to properly trial it. I may have also had a period of time when I wasn’t putting anything on my face at night and most days during the weekend. OH THE SHAME! Don’t tell anyone *flails*, but now I am back on the wagon and my skin has forgive me XD

So lets have a look at how the Cleansing Milk Did.Plantae Bergamont Orange Cleansing Milk Read more

Black Robin Skin Care

Black Robin Skin Care

Good Evening!

How has your week been?

Today I want to share with you a new skin care range called Black Robin. Black Robin is a New Zealand made skincare range which is animal friendly, natural and gentle. The ingredients list is not a mile long and easily understandable. What is even better is the price tag, with the most expensive product priced at $16.00 NZD you can afford to get a few (or even all of them *need*).

Now lets talk about the packaging, if you have been following me for a while you will not how much I love packaging. The tubs and bottles are simple and classic with pretty labels. The sample bottles (I was lucky to get samples too :3) are cute too!

There lists of products are:

Hippy Shake Shake Rose Hip Moisturiser $16.00 NZD each.

Whole Lotta Rosie Refreshing Mist Toner $16.00 NZD each.

The Real Peel Sugar Scrub $11.00 NZD each.

Tingly Bits Sugar Scrub $11.00 NZD each.

Dragon’s Blood Hand and Body Cream $13.00 NZD each.

Peppermint Hand and Body Cream $13.00 NZD each.

Lucky Lip Scrub in Marshmallow, Black Cherry, Sour Cola and Peppermint. $6.00 NZD each.

I was lucky enough to have scored some samples for Whole Lotta Rosie Refreshing Mist Toner and Tingly Bits Sugar Scrub.

BRS Samples copyI have been using my samples for two weeks now and I need to get the full size. I have such super sensitive skin and these products are so gentle and smell amazing.

Whole Lotta Rosie:

The Whole Lotta Rosie Toner is an amazing addition to my care routine. I wash my face, dry it, spritz on some Whole Lotta Rosie, let it sink in and then add my moisturiser. I find that my face gets very dry and raspy after I wash it and sometimes moisturiser afterwards just doesn’t cut it. I also have very sensitive skin, which is easily aggravated so I don’t often go near anything which says “toner” because they usually dry my skin out even further.

Before I started using Whole Lotta Rosie I looked into toners, because I was a little worried about using something that may strip my skin of all that is bad and good in it. Supposedly there are several different types of toner that range from heavy duty oil strippers to face refreshers, just all using the word toner to describe them. How did I not know this? The super duper drying, stinging ones usually have high alcohol content, whereas this product is alcohol free.

When I used this that horrible, stripped dry feeling vanished and my skin felt refreshed.I found that my skin looked brighter and clearer while using it. I suffered from no skin irritations when using it (I even got some in my eye and it was really no bother).I also smelt pretty damn good too. The smell is really nice, crispwith a hint of rose and it is not over powering.

What I was also impressed with, was how 10ml lasted me just over two weeks while being used two times a day. The full size bottle is 100ml so in theory should last twenty weeks. I may be a little heavy handed so it might even be even longer than that. Not bad when 100ml costs $16.00 NZD.

I will definitely add this permanently to my morning and night skincare routine and will be making an order next pay day for my very own full size bottle 🙂

Tingly Bits Sugar Scrub:

BSR scrub

Omgosh! First of all the smell!! Its the most amazing, true peppermint smell. Its not overpowering, just refreshing. Then when you use it you get that nice, just brushed my teeth tingly feeling but on your skin (not in your mouth). That cool tingly feeling lasts for a good wee while after your shower too.

You really don’t need a lot of this scrub, as a little goes a long way. The coconut and grape seed oil help to spread it all about as well nourish your skin, so you aren’t left a dry, crispy mess afterwards. Even better is because it is made with sugar and not little stones, its very gentle. No nasty little stones scratchy your skin.

I found that I could use this scrub a few times a week instead of the usual once every two weeks. My skin felt smooth and soft with an amazing tingly freshness. I will also be purchasing myself a full size tub of Tingly Bits, which is $11.00 NZD for 150 grams.

So if you are after some lovely, inexpensive and gentle face care make sure you stop by Back Robin Skincare’s website and have a look. At this time Black Robin only ship to New Zealand and Australian addresses, you are free to contact them to find out about shipping internationally.

Thanks for stopping by!
