L.A. Girl Matte Flat Velvet – Reds

L.A. Girl Matte Flat Velvet – Reds

Red lipstick is such a weakness of mine, even though I tend towards the nude lipsticks in my day to day work look, you can never beat a beautiful red lipstick. A huge portion of my lipstick collection is still reds.

L.A.Girl Matte Flat Lipsticks really impressed me with their quality and they have quite the range of colours. The last time I stopped by a L.A.Girl stand I picked up three more…they were all some type of red XD.

So today I wanted to share with you Relentless, Runway and Gossip.LAGIrl Matte Reds Tubes

L.A. Girl Inspiring Brow Kit Light

L.A. Girl Inspiring Brow Kit Light

Who would have known that brows would day be so important to me and my makeup routine? XD Once I started filling in my brows, there was no way I could ever stop. I have used different brow products over the years and pomade has been my favourite for a while now, but it was time to lighten the colour I used again. I’m growing out my natural hair colour and it is very light compared to what I once had, so I have been able to try a few different brands and shades while I am trying to get my hair colour settle on one shade. I saw that L.A. Girl had launched their own series of brow kits and thought I would give them a go while I was on the hunt for a new shade. I purchased the lightest kit in the Inspiring Brow Kit series and was quite pleased to see it came with two shades.

L.A. Girl HD Pro Setting Matte Finish Spray

L.A. Girl HD Pro Setting Matte Finish Spray

Good Morning,

Today’s post is about L.A. Girl’s HD Pro Setting Matte Finish Spray. I have been quite fond of L.A. Girl lately, they have good quality products with even better price tags. I have never used a setting spray before in my makeup routine and there are so many out there, that I thought it a good idea to start off with one that would not break the bank it I didn’t like it.

So let’s have a look and see how well it did.

L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss Next Six

L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss Next Six

How is your week going! I finally have for you today six more swatches of the L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Glosses. It always seems to take forever to swatch matte drying lipsticks, because they last so long, they take quite a bit to get off and when you are trying to get on a swatching roll it can really slow you down. So here they other finally!IMG_8151edited

I am always amazed at the size of these tubes for the little price you pay ^_^ :3 If only I had better luck photographing them, believe all not this is the fourth product set up photos I took and I am still not happy with T_T live and learn I guess.

LAGIRL Flat Mattesedited

Bazaar and Fleur are great everyday colours, they wear really well and don’t look too bad if the middle fades a little. Rebel and Frisky are my fierce colours for work and look super glam on. Backstage and Blackcurrant were also a little patchy and did not wear as well as the others. They are gorgeous colours, but always surprise me with just how dark they are, so do not get pulled out to wear as much as I should.

Overall, they are all pretty good quality and colour pay off. Lunch time rocks round and they are all pretty much still in place, with no bleeding or colour fade. If anything I fight at the end of the day to get it all off. I found facial oil helps a bit to get it off.

I am quite happy with my collection of ten colours from this set, I don’t feel like I need to get all of them, but they have been great to try out. I would love for L.A. Girl to bring out some more pinks and even some greens and blues for their flat mattes collection:3

Do you have any of the L.A. Girl Flat Mattes?

Miss T’s Best of 2015

Miss T’s Best of 2015

Happy New Year!

I hope you have been enjoying the holidays. I have enjoyed my break and feel ready for 2016.

2015 was a great year for me and my blog. I was able to attend several blogging events and met other awesome bloggers. My blog broke its previous record for yearly views well and truly. And of course the name change from MaSucree’s Makeup Musings to Miss T’s Makeup. Thank you all who have stopped by and made blogging such a great experience for me.

To close 2015 and start 2016 properly I thought I would share with you some of my favourite products, brands, websites and youtubers from 2015.

Favourite Products of 2015:

It was harder than I thought to pick just a handful of favourites from the year, but I picked just the ones that I would buy over and over again ^_^

2015 Fave Products Bigger

Real Techniques Brushes – I have heard so much about these brushes, but it took me so long to find a place that would ship to NZ that I only got some in 2015. My favourites out of my small collection is the foundation brush and Blush Brush. Blog Post.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks – Oh man how have I even lived without these??? Celebrity Skin is my go to lipsticks for when I don’t wanna think about what is on my face, but I wanna look good. Beautiful quality and beautiful colours. Blog Post.
L.A.Girl Pro Conceal HD concealer -. I have four of them!! They go with me everywhere, just a great all round concealer with a very small price tag. Blog Post.
Karen Murrell Lipsticks – I have been lucky enough to have my collection of Karen Murrell lipsticks send to me for review, but I would buy these with my own money too! Not too intense, great for your lips and super pretty colour range. Blog Post.
Garnier Micellar Water – I hopped on that bandwagon and fell in love!! Four bottles in one year later and I am still a fan, don’t get me wrong but I will try others still XD. Blog Post.
Essence Eyeshadows – Essence eyeshadows are such a great way to try out new colours without dropping a mint on them. This just reminded me how much I have that I haven’t blogged about yet T_T Blog Post.

Favourite Brands of 2015:

There were quite a few brands I was introduced to in 2015 and some I even found again after a break or a revamp in their quality.

2015 Fave Brands

L.A. Girl – everything I grabbed in 2015 worked amazingly well for such a small price. I had tried them a few years ago and felt quite let down, but they quickly took over my collection in 2015 and I look forward to what they have to offer in 2016. Website.
Essence – I sorta went a bit beserk on the old Essence this year, I felt like I found better quality products and better luck with them. Their Trend Editions are so obsessive. Website.
Trilogy – Again like Karen Murrell, all of my Trilogy from 2015 was sent to me to review and I loved all of it. I had used it five years ago and 2015 just reignited my love for the brand and my want to look after my skin. Website.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Jeffree Star wowed me all of 2015 with their colour selection and their hints of what 2016 holds for their makeup collection. I can’t wait to expand my collection :3 Website.
ColourPop – Finally beauty lovers from New Zealand were able to order from ColourPop and get our hands on their inexpensive goodies. I really love their Lippie Stix and can’t wait to get hold of their new liners. Website.

Favourite Places to Buy in 2015:

I didn’t do as much buying online in 2015 as I thought I did, nor did I find many different places to buy, but the few I did have me going back for more…sometimes when I shouldn’t XD

Makeup.co.nz – an awesome New Zealand online store that ships almost instantly and keeps up with beauty trends. Website.

iHerb – Shipping is pretty good from iHerb and they have a good selection of Real Techniques, E.L.F. and a few others brands which can be harder to find in NZ. Website.

Life Pharmacy – So close to work and home and I just spend too much money there XD.

Looking forward to trying: Sephora NZ squeeee!!!

Favourite Youtubers of 2015:

I’ve only in the last few months gotten really into watching beauty bloggers. So here are my favourites from 2015.

Carli Bybel

PinUp Doll Ashley Marie

Still Glamorous

Nikkie Tutorials

Jordan Bone

Loving: Grav3yard girl this year, binge watching too many vids XD

So those are just a few of my favourite things of 2015. Here’s hoping 2016 is even better! Thanks for stopping by and supporting me!

L.A. Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipstick

L.A. Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipstick

Good Morning,

Hows it going? I have new photography light bulbs and have been taken a heap of pictures. I finally feel as though I am making headway with my pile of to be swatched, now if only I stopped adding to it 😉

Tonight fresh from Mount Tobeswatched is my collection of L.A. Girl Matte Flat Velvets. These exploded all over the internet a wee while back, but only recently made their way into NZ stores. I am so glad, because they have such a great range of colours!

I am quite impressed with the packaging of these, not too cheap looking despite the pretty price tag of $10.00 NZD

LAGIRLFlat Velvets BaseseditedLeft to Right: Blue Valentine, Hush, Manic, Poetic, Love Triangle and Giggle

I love the little bit of colour on the bottom so that you know what lipstick shade you are picking out of the drawer :3

My one teeny tiny little gripe is that they are flat top and when you go to apply to your lips, if you have it ever so slightly at the wrong angle the tube rolls back down -_- It took me a few tries before I got it right. Other than that they are pretty damn awesome, just keep it in mind when applying them.

So a note about these swatches, they have me such a hard time and were done over and over again. Blue Valentine is as close as I could get it to real life, but not as accurate. For some reason the lipstick swatches are pretty colour accurate, but my skin tone is whack in all of them XD One day I will learn how to fix that.

Blue Valentine

Love Triangle

I felt so proud of myself fro grabbing Poetic and Blue Valentine. I found my self reaching for the old pink, nude and red, but when I saw the blue and grey I thought no wait! Lets try something else, I really wanna go back for the black and burgundy :3

Overall, these are great! Fantastic colours, with 26 shades in total and wonderful colour pay off! Fully opaque almost straight away. I had no bleeding with any of these and they tended to stay in place until lunch time. As I mentioned earlier I am not too fond of the flat top and the way they can sometimes wind themselves down a tad, but they are $10.00 NZD each and are great in every other way, I can live.

Have you purchased any Flat Velvet lipsticks yet? What do you think of grey and blue lipstick?

October Round Up

October Round Up

Hello lovely people!

November already I have to start thinking about Christmas. Scary thought right?! I didn’t branch out too much in October with products to try, so this month’s round up is kinda small. Now that Expo planning and study is all done for the year I can dive back into my pile of products that need reviewing.

October Round Up

Left to right: Mane N Tail Creme Therapy, Oasis Beauty Rhino Repair, L.A. Girl Super Mega Mascara and .

Mane n Tail Herbal Gro Leave-In Creme Therapy
– $6.76 NZD
– Available from iherb (international)

I use this for a few weeks after bleaching my hair to try and convince it to like me again. It is very thick, so you do not need much, but it does spread very evenly through your hair. I have very thin hair so if I wasn’t careful I could over do it and drown my hair in product. It is great at smooth frizzy hair and making it look a little more human if you have stripped it with too much bleach *guilty*. I also use it when my hair is super thirsty. As I mentioned my hair is very thin so I do not use this too much, if your hair was dryer or thicker you may be able to use it more often. I like it, but I do not think I will replace it once I am done, I will look for something else to try.

Oasis Beauty Rhino Repair
– Sent for Review
– $39.90 NZD
– Available from

Where has this been all my life? I have crazy sensitive skin and I suffered through a year of eczema taking over my arm over and over again. I could have really done with this. I am currently fighting some on the back of my knee (??? why the knee I don’t know) and this helps so much! It relieves the horrible itchiness and by the end of the day it has reduced the little bit of swelling and rawness. Now if I could just remember to apply it more than just in the mornings I am pretty sure it would disappear completely *lazy beauty blogger* I also use it on my feet when they get dry, its fantastic for that! Almost over night repair ^_^ Its full of such goodness. I am not a big fan of how it smells, it is not nasty just not mine, but its benefits are so great that I over look it.

Other suggested uses (that I must give a go):

  • Aftershave or waxing balm
  • Takes the burn out of sunburn and heals itchy bites
  • Intensive hair conditioning treatment

I will be buying a tube if this regularly!

L.A. Girl Super Mega Mascara in Dark Brown
– $13.99 NZD
– Available L.A. Girl USA (US), NZ L.A. Girl (NZ), Love My Makeup (NZ), Beauty Bliss (NZ), Beauty Joint (International), Unichem (NZ)

This was such a surprise. I had thrown on my makeup that morning and forgot about mascara so I ran down to the chemist by work and picked up a cheap mascara. It turned out to be great! I didn’t even check what colour it was still today, turns out its dark brown not black XD Best $13.99 mascara ever! It has a really even and light application so you can really layer it up. The brush is also just a bog standard brush, but it works well. I think it makes my lashes look great! I would definitely buy it again, especially for how cheap it is.

Brush Egg
– $1.80 AUD
– Ebay Seller Geekwarehouse1

This is just a cheap knock off of other brush cleaners I have seen and I am kinda glad I didn’t pay for a fancy pants one. I don’t use it, it sits in my makeup drawer getting in the way. Don’t get me wrong, I tried hard, really hard, but it just doesn’t work for me. I prefer to use my hand to work in the cleaner into my brushes and it seems to work just fine for me. I would encourage you if you have been thinking about getting one, maybe trying a cheaper one first to see if it will work for you. I am pretty sure though that all the more pricey ones are just marked up versions of these though 😉 Maybe one day I will try again.

What did you try in October? Anything amazing? Anything you wondered what you were thinking?

❤ Miss T
