Revlon Colorstay 2-In-1 Compact Makeup & Concealer

Revlon Colorstay 2-In-1 Compact Makeup & Concealer

I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end….I am back to having eight foundations again T_T I got down to having one ultimate fave and that was all I used and then suddenly all these new  foundations were released and I needed them all XD Today’s new(ish) Foundation is Revlon’s Colorstay 2-In-1 Compact Makeup & Concealer. I am fully willing to admit I jump on the makeup bandwagon, you rave about it I buy it. So let’s see if it is worthy of joining my collection of fast growing foundations. Revlon 2 in 1 Compact Collage

“Expertly matched shades of makeup and concealer for a flawless, longwearing look that’s perfect for you. Smooth, blendable formula with buildable coverage and a demi-matte finish.”

Packaging:
Why is the mirror on the bottom?! One of the only things to annoy me about the packaging is the mirror is at the bottom. I like the little spot for the sponge and I like how the concealer and foundation have their own little compartment/layer, but I find myself dabbing my brush into the foundation and constantly having to flip back to the mirror. Sometimes I run out of hands to do this with. I know others may not use the mirror in the compact, but rather use their own mirror, but with my eye sight I prefer to use the compact one. A rather minor issue, but something that irks me on some days.

First Impression:
At first this product drove me nuts! I could not get it to stay in place, it would not blend especially round my eyes and nose and by the end of the it had migrated to my cheeks, chin and centre of my fourhead away from every where else. The colour was perfect and looked amazing once I faught it onto my skin, but I just couldn’t keep it where I wanted it. I ended up relegating it to the back of my makeup drawer annoyed that I had been let down by it.

Another Go:
Every time I opened my drawer, this little bugger would be staring at me, so I gave it another go. I had recently picked up a few L.A. Girl Products, one of which was a primer (review to come), and I paired it with this foundation and suddenly my life was transformed. It went on easily, blended better, stayed where it was meant to all day long without the use of setting spray, hid all of my problem areas and made me look flawless AF. I now where this quite regularly, it lasts all day at work and does what I want it to. I am glad I gave it another go and it really showed me that maybe sometimes my problem products just need to be given a go paired with something else.

Left: Nothing but primer, Middle: Foundation Right: Face full of makeup

Overall:
So the mirror drives me nuts and the sponge provided was not my friend and despite a rough start this foundation has made its way into my top three foundations I reach for all the time. I would be inclined to buy this again, as a I need a foundation and I know this one works well foundation. Don’t get me wrong, its a wonderful product, but I am serial foundation buyer and tryer. I don’t have many foundations that see a repeat in my drawer, there are so many on the market and despite loving them they may not get a second go just because of share volume of foundation out there to try. I try so hard, but in the end…there are too many foundations.

What foundations are you adoring at the moment? What is next on your hit list? Are you a serial foundation buyer?

Thanks for stopping by!

❤ Miss T
