Monday is always a good day for a nice bright red lipstick, but really every day is 😉 Today’s lipstick is Monte Carlo from NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Cream range. These have been everywhere for as long as I have been reading and writing blogs. When NYX finally launched a New Zealand store, I knew I had to get at least one of them to see what all the hype was about.I purchased Monte Carlo a brilliant red, because well sometimes when you are testing a lippy you need to go big or go home and I guess I have a huge soft spot for red lipstick ;). Application was different to what I was used to, it had a slight moussey texture, which seemed to make application easier that expected. I was able to achieve very sharp lines with Monte Carlo, which is perfect when wearing a red. I found the colour pay off was a little thin upon first swipe, but I used my usual application process for lip colour and it layered up nicely.
It did take a bit longer than other matte drying lipsticks, but once sealed it did not transfer or smudge and no bleeding!. It lasted work all the way through to lunch and only a bit in the middle of my lip was worn away. It was also super easy to patch.
Unlike most matte drying lipsticks, during application if you would like to mush your lips together to more evenly spread the product you can without fear of ruining the texture. This only a little bit like the Velveteen and Velour style lipsticks. It dries matte, but has a moussey look to it, which stops it from looking too flatAnother amazing thing, it did not hug the dry bits on my lips and it did not dry them out even further.
I am super keen to get my hands on more of these. They have quite an amazing colour range, I’m sure there are plenty more I can add to my collection.
Do you own any of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams? What ones would you recommend?
